Because Beyoncé just released her new Pepsi ad last week, Taylor Swift’s new Diet Coke ad seems to be the highlight of the week in the ad world. Taylor Swift is the official brand-maker for Diet Coke, and has released her very first spot for the well-known drink. Unlike all of the other relationships she has gone through, Taylor has finally found something that understands her. “Diet Coke. Because it understands me.”

Created by Droga5 and MJZ director, Fredrik Bond, the ad gives us insight into how Taylor wrote her last song “22.” Everyone goes through relationships. Everyone has their ups and downs. Whether journaling in one’s diary or writing a song about each new relationship or break up, each new event is expressed in some way. The ad works because it’s relatable to many of the young, hip, Diet Coke-drinking crowd.
